How Can I Shop Around?
When you live in a remote community, there is not much opportunity to shop for the best deals, in order to compare prices with other stores. The reality is that there is only one store on your community. Here are a few ways you can save some money on your shopping bill:
Buy in Bulk - When going to your nearest regional centre, try and be organised so you can buy some non-perishable items in bulk. Most times buying larger packets can be cheaper than buying several smaller ones. Some items that you can buy in bulk: rice, cereal, biscuits, powdered milk, tea and coffee. There are many more depending on your tastes.
SALES! SALES! SALES!
When going to your nearest regional centre, remember to take advantage of sales! Can you do your big shopping AFTER the christmas holidays? This is a great time to hit the sales as items will often be offered at much cheaper prices! |

If you are looking to purchase larger items like white goods, cars, larger toys for children, you can ask the shop to inform you of when their sales are on. Sales are usually seasonal and are often centred around a holiday.
Shopping List - Always use a shopping list and buy only what you need. You will be surprised on how much you can save by not impulse buying.
